Vacation Time

It has been a LONG time since I have taken a REAL vacation, and by real, I mean: no kids (I love them dearly, but they are still quite young), no work (no laptop, no work related email/phone calls/texts), and far away from home. I worked my ass off at work and earned a trip to Costa Rica at an amazing all-inclusive resort, BUT that trip was cancelled (thanks, Covid), so I was left with a kid-free week. I went back and forth between using the time or not using the time. And, if I used the time what the heck would I do with my time?? My default is work. I LOVE what I do, and I also love making money, so it's a win-win. BUUUUT, it's time for this mama to unplug and unwind. And since I made this decision VERY last minute (the kid-free week starts in 3 weeks), I decided to take a trip alone. Solo. By myself. And you know what?? I haven't been this excited in a LONG time.

Requirements for this trip: sun, sand, beach, palm trees, yoga, amazing food, comfy bed, wifi, AC, somewhere new.

I hunkered down and started searching. I thought it would be easy. I thought my requirements were minimal, but the more I started searching, I realized, I wanted this to be perfect since it would be my first real vacation post-divorce. And I was going SOLO! How freeing is that!? I didn't have to run my ideas by ANYONE! There was absolutely no one to shut down any of my ideas. If I needed to adjust my requirements, I could. So, I searched, and searched, and my must-haves started to grow a bit. My search went from Belize to Costa Rica to Bahamas to Turks and Caicos to Dominican Republic to Puerta Vallerta. I FINALLY found a secret yoga retreat just south of Puerta Vallerta. Xinalani.

I am not exactly sure how I found it, but I am so glad I did. It sounds absolutely dreamy.

I found perfection. Although it is exactly what I am looking for, it is super remote (you can only get there by boat), so I decided to stay there half the time and find somewhere with a little more action for the rest of my trip. The second half of my journey takes me to Punta de Mita.

I will stay there for 3 nights and take a day trip to Sayulita.

I think I should have been a travel agent. This was a very fun trip to plan, and I feel like it offers me EXACTLY what I am looking for. And, the icing? Airfare was super cheap and it was only an extra $100 to upgrade to first class on the trip home. I had to splurge. This mama deserves it.
