Staycation/Vacation

Updated: Aug 27, 2019

Hubby took the kids to Arizona to visit his family.

I was kid/husband free for five entire days. Although I would miss them terribly, I was more like, "What will I do with all of my free time?!" I thought of all of the things I SHOULD do:

SHOULD:

>Clean

>Fold laundry

>Exercise every day

>Organize kids stuff and have a garage sale

And then I thought of all of the things I WANTED to do:

WANT:

>Sleep

>Sleep

>Sleep

>Eat alone in a bar

>Go out to a non-kid friendly restaurant to eat, alone

>Take a ferry somewhere

>Go see live music

But then I thought all of those wants, except for sleep, sounded a little lonely for 5 entire days.

So, my Canadian bestie planned a last minute trip to come see me. We haven't seen each other in 15 years, and we met when we were 9.

We spent 4 solid days together. I got nothing done on my should list, but checked off most of the things on my want list, and then some.

WHAT I ACTUALLY DID:

>Not sleep

>Ate with bestie in a bar

>Ate with bestie in a non-kid friendly restaurant, several times

>Took a ferry, to not just anywhere, but to the magical place we met, 36 years ago, #rocheharbor

>Got matching tattoos

>Went to see live music

>Ate all of the seafood

>Had a dance party at home

>Talked, talked, and talked some more

It was an exhausting, non-stop, action-packed 4 days. I am forever grateful that I got to spend some quality time with someone who has been so dear to me for so long.

I was also very grateful to see my kids again, for I missed them terribly.

Now it is time to buckle down and start decluttering the house!
