I "TOTES" Made This

Last night I took my second sewing class and made a reversible (lined) tote bag.

I gotta say, I am loving this. I started out with two pieces of fabric, and ended up with a legitimate tote bag, that I will legitimately use! My stitch lines are straight, and it looks like something I would find in a store. Not bad for a rookie! Now, I want to make ALL THE THINGS!!

I made this cute pouch my very first class a couple of weeks ago.

My goal is to eventually make clothes and home goods (pillows, etc), for me and my kids, so I can save money and reduce waste. I would also (in my dreams, literally) design my own patterns. I know I have a long way to go, and I have only done extremely simple projects with a lot of guidance, but I have visions of having a room in my house dedicated to sewing (somewhere and someday) and a garden, and a 10 foot island in my kitchen, and a soaking tub in my master en suite, and...Oh, I love to dream!

In the meantime, I will continue my classes (up next...pillows), assuming I still enjoy it (so far, so good). So, be good to me, because you might be getting a one-of-a-kind Materialistic Mama pillow, or tea towel, or tote for Christmas!
